How to beat decision overwhelm!

My top 5 tips.

Let's be honest!

Staring at 50 slightly different shades of paint for the millionth time can make anyone's head spin! After years of helping clients transform their homes and workplaces, I've developed a fail-proof system that makes the design process enjoyable. Here is a distilled version for anyone out there struggling with overwhelm or decision fatigue!

The secret lies in breaking down the decision-making process into manageable chunks. Here are my tips:

Start with a Vision Board!
Before you even think about paint colours or furniture spend a weekend creating a digital or physical mood board by saving images that spark joy, without overthinking it. You'll soon see patterns that emerge in your choices and preferences. Pinterest, Canva Houzz are three good platforms for your digital mood board.
Break It Down.
Think of your project like eating an elephant - one bite at a time! Focus on one room or element at a time. For example Week 1: Overall colour scheme. Week 2: Main furniture pieces. Week 3: Lighting and so on! It makes the task do-able and allows you to build confidently upon your design decisions.
Consider your space's natural light.
Which way does your room face and how much natural light do you get? Those gorgeous warm greys that looked perfect in a magazine might read completely differently in your north-facing room. Take time to observe how light moves through your space throughout the day – it's a game-changer when it comes to how a colours actually look.

Use the 3-Option Rule.

Limit yourself to three pre-vetted choices that all work with your scheme. More than that and overwhelm can set in. Less - you might feel stuck.

Sample Before You Buy.

Always, always get samples and live with them for a while. The lighting in your space can change everything.

Trust Your Intuition.

Finally, if something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Your home should reflect YOU, not what's trending on social media. At Flippa Interiors we help you find your style.
